Superstars Jet Into Dublin For Summer Of Hot Gigs

Music plays a big part of daily life in Dublin, and this summer looks to strike a massive chord with the city.

Superstars are queuing to play in Ireland’s capital – with a huge celebrity A list jetting in for gigs.

The Spice Girls reunion hits Croke park on May 24 – and their show is something most people really, really want judging by the way tickets have flown out of the box office.

The girls are down one – Posh has opted not to rejoin the line-up – but the night promises to bring back the glitz and glamour of their last tour in 2008.

American songstress Pink plays the RDS on June 18. Expect a spectacular performance with all the fun of the circus as she often puts on a trapeze act and other highlights as she powers through a lengthy repertoire of hits.

Rocket Man blasts off

Rocket Man Elton John lands in the 3Arena on June 12 and June 13 for possibly his last concert in Dublin as he has announced retirement following the world tour in the wake of his Rocket Man movie.

Saying that, Elton has been on the road for three years and pop stars are often lured back into the limelight after announcing their retirement.

And then local boys made good hit the stage at Croke Park on July 5 and July 6.

Westlife, one of the ultimate boy bands, have reformed after a six year absence. The shows are already sell-outs as swooning crowds expect them to run through their 14 number one hits.

And there’s more!

Motown sensation Stevie Wonder stops off at the 3Arena on July 9. Expect a blockbuster from a performer who has 32 number one songs and 25 Grammy Awards plus a hoist of other showbiz plaudits under his belt.

Other hot gigs include Mariah Carey (3Arena May 22); Mark Knopfler (3Arena May 24); Hugh Jackman (3Arena May 30-31).

Later in the year, expect to see Michael Buble (3Arena, June 6-7); Metallica (Slane Castle, June 8); The Cure (Malahide Castle, June 8); Backstreet Boys (3Arena, June 11); Fleetwood Mac (RDS, June 13); Bon Jovi (RDS, June 15-16) and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (Malahide Castle, June 16).
